Athletes compete in five age groups depending on their year of birth. Bantam [ 10 or younger], Midget [ 11 or 12], Youth [13 or 14], Intermediate [15 or 16], Young Men/Women [17 or 18]. In addition there are different classes of adult athletes. One of the runners, a 74 year old male competed in the distance races. Families play a big part in the development of the younger athletes. The pictures on this page are of some of the athletes who competed at the meet. The skill displayed by the young athletes was impressive. Events by age group link.

Toya Pedracine [L] a parent of one of the athletes is pictured helping one of the long jumpers from the South Madison Panthers team.
Coach Jerome Pettus [R] filmed jumpers from the South Madison Panthers in order to provide feedback to the younger athletes.
The atmosphere of the meet was very positive as the young track and field athletes could observe and learn from the more experienced athletes from the high school and collegiate level.
