Lake Michigan Invite

Kenosha Bradford, Kenosha Tremper, Mukwonago, Racine Park, Union Grove and ten teams from Illinois competed at the Lake Michigan Invitational held at the 'TARC' at Carthage College. The Hoffman Estates Hawks won the meet. Above left: Racine Park's Andrea Fenderson who placed third in the 55m dash is shown winning her heat of the 55m [7.59]. Above [L-R] The Racine Park 4x2 relay team recorded a 1:54.94 in placing third. Relay runners were Andrea Fenderson, Tynisha Person, Keleta Gordon and anchor Danola Thomas. Zion Benton [Illinois] won the event in 1:50.64 [Zion Benton leadoff runner pictured above left]. Zion Benton high school is located halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago and has a student population of 2400.


Kenosha Tremper sophomore Sarah Ball placed third in the 1600m with a time of 5:29.96. Hannah Worman of Hoffman Estates [ 2,500+ students, Schaumburg, IL] won the event in 5:15.66.

Jil Kerkman [above right] a senior from Union Grove placed tenth in the 1600m.


Senior Kathryn Ritter of Mukwonago got the 2008 season off to a great start by posting a 2:22.83 to win the 800m event. Ritter who placed third in the D1 800m at the 2007 WIAA State Meet led from start to finish


Union Grove senior Jil Kerkman placed second in the D2 800m run at the 2007 WIAA State Meet [2:16.58] placed sixth at the Lake Michigan meet. Above L-R: Zion Benton's Aireonna Bailey won the 55m dash [7.37]. Bailey will attend Indiana University next year on a track scholarship. Erin Hovath [Grant High, IL] was 5th while Rebecca Michalek of Mukwonago was 10th.
