Whitehall Works To Build Upon Runnerup Finish at State

Some of the sprinters and hurdlers who will make an impact in D3 events are featured below

Above: Most of the finalists in the 200m D3 event return for 2008. Pictured above are [L-R] Eileen Lemanski [11, Florence], Kelly Giese [12, Brookwood], Chelsey Simon [11, Whitehall], 2007 D3 200m champion Jaclyn Aijala [graduated, Hurley], and Megan Rennhack [12, Dodgeland]. Shell Lake won the 2007 D3 Championship with 43 points. Whitehall [39], Darlington [34] and Florence [32] finished 2nd,3rd, and 4th. Each of these teams return veteran State Meet athletes. In addition some of the athletes pictured below will challenge for the sprint championships at La Crosse.

Above right: Chelsey Simon at the Cashton Invitational held at UW-La Crosse on March 29. Bender and Simon are two of the leaders of the Whitehall D3 team that placed second in D3 at the 2007 State Track and Field Championships. At La Crosse Simon won the 100m dash and placed second in the 200m dash while Bender scored points in the 100m HH, was a finalist in the 300m LH event and placed 4th in the D3 TJ. Both Bender and Simon were also on the Whitehall third place 4x2 relay team.

Some of the returning sprinters who should impact the D3 Honor Roll this season are pictured above and below. Above [L-R]: Chelsey Simon [Whitehall], Aileen Lemanski [Florence] and 2005 State Champion in the 100m and 200m Kelly Giese of Brookwood. Lemanski was the D3 LJ champion in 2007 jumping 18' 02.50. This broke the record [17.11.75] set by Jaclyn Kriegl also of Florence in 1996.
