How can a team score 240 points in a single meet and still come in last? In a True Team Meet every athlete can score points no matter if they place first, second, third, or twenty-fourth. If 24 athletes are in an event then first place gets 24 points, second place 23 points, down to last place 1 point.

In this way D1 Hudson scored 867.50 points to finish first in the True Team Meet that they hosted. D2 Somerset came in third and in the process set more school records.

Somerset senior Christina Flandrick soared to 10' 06 in the pole vaule to set a Somerset school record. She is pictured on the right in a photograph taken by Niaomi Belisle. Flandrick is #2 on the week 5 D2-D3 HR PV list behind Richland Center junior vaulter Dani Vetesnik.

Alicia Potting a junior [Below right] scored 24 points in the 200m dash by winning with a time of 26.75.

In the 200m pictured below athletes pictured are L-R: Angela Tripp [Hudson, 2nd], Potting, and Yanique Black [River Falls, 3rd].

Four days after setting school records at the Osceola Invite the Somerset Spartan 4x1 and 4x2 relay teams set new school records at the Hudson True Team Meet. Alicia Potting [above] hands off to anchor Gina Hanzlik as the Somerset 4x1 raced to a 50.48 clocking.

Gina Hanzlik a senior and State Meet veteran sprints in the final 4x1 exchange zone as Alicia Potting prepares to make the exchange of the baton.

From The Files

Left and above are pictures from the 2007 State Meet. As a sophomore Gina Hanzlik finished 7th in the D2 LJ [16' 08.50]. Last season as a junior she finished 7th again with a jump of 17' 02. She is again listed on the HR in the LJ for the 2009 season.

In 2005 Somerset ninth grader Megan Plourde set the D2 HJ record by jumping 5' 06 at La Crosse. In 2007 Plourde [above] broke her record by jumping 5' 07. However Becca Buchholtz from East Troy set the new record with a leap of 5' 09.

As a senior Plourde again finished second to Buchholtz in the D2 HJ championship competition. This school year Plourde was a member of the Colorado State volleyball team.
