2009 W/TFA State Indoor Championships: Relay Events

In the 4x400 relay four teams were under 4:10. Onalaska not only won with a time of 4:05.10 but the Hilltoppers set a new record breaking the oldest W/TFA record set by Madison Memorial [4:05.8] in 1990. Team members above [L-R] were: Ahna Flood, Jami Hill, Jamie Burr, and Katie Hill.

The meet was tightly contested. Milwaukee Bradley Tech won with 40 points followed by Milwaukee Vincent [38 pts], Onalaska [36 pts], Milwaukee Rufus King [34 pts], and Whitefish Bay [31 pts. Forty of the teams in the meet scored points.


The 4x400 relay was a back and forth affair. Vincent [4:06.37], Bradley Tech [4:07.35], and Rufus King [4:09.85] kept fans guessing as to the winner of the relay.

Jami Hill is pictured above right rounding the final turn for the sprint to the finish. Hill was able to edge out the Vincent team in an exciting record breaking finish to the meet.

Miilwaukee Bradley Tech was within .22 seconds of tying the record in the 4x200 relay that they set in the 2008 W/TFA Championships. This years team ran a 1:43.90 to win the event. Relay teammembers above L-R: Tahje Whittley, Sharonda York, Symona Gregory, and anchor Jasmyn Hudgins.

As the season progresses runners adjust to the speeds and accelerations of their teammates. On the right second runner Sharonda York hands off to Symona Gregory. Below left Jasmyn Hudgins begins to accelerate as Gregory enters the exchange zone. Despite a 1 1/2 second lead Hudgins sprints through the finish line.
