Janesville Parker Girls Track And Field Invitational, Friday, April 24, 2009. Results

Above: Start of the 4x8 relay. Each athlete has a different way of preparing for a race. No matter what the finish each athlete and team can achieve a new 'PR' in track and field. Below: Leg 1 of the 4x8. Runners from Beloit, Merrill, Franklin, and Oak Creek are pictured.

Above: Finals of the 100m dash. Below: Felicia Carlson of Beloit surged ahead with less than 30 meters to go to edge out Merrill sprinter Melissa Espeseth in the 200m dash. Lauren Grant of Waukesha West and Janesville Parker's Kelsey Jones are also shown. Because the 'FAT' timing system could not be shifted runners ran into a gale force wind. Some meets on Friday had spectacular times in the windy conditions seen throughout the state as a new series of storms moved into Wisconsin.

A special thanks to Coach Greg Eichelkraut from Merrill for sharing his pictures from the meet. In the mid 1990's when the HR was struggling for results Coach 'Kraut' supplied HR performances for the northern part of the state. Also Sauk Prairie's Dan Winzenreid, La Crosse Logan's Tom Kammer, and Wisconsin Lutheran's Kurt Seegar all lent a helping hand that helped the Girls HR through some lean times as far as getting results was concerned. Since those days a growing network of coaches, parents, and athletes has assisted our goal of giving a comprehensive report on girls track and field in Wisconsin each week.
