Waukesha Catholic Memorial's winning 4x8 L-R: Jessa Hackman, Chelsea Schrubbe, Kelsey Gilbert, and anchor Morgan Sickles.


Relays illustrate the team aspect of track and field. A race within a race with many mini-competitions unfolding into one result. Fond du Lac posted a 9:55.76 to place second to Memorial's performance of 9:55.73. Both times are now at the the top of the week 5 4x8 relay HR list. Below anchors Jenna Goebel of Fond du Lac and Morgan Sickles of Catholic Memorial close in on the finish line. Electronic timing and computer video helped pick the winner of the razor thin finish.

Not to be outdone by the 4x8 finish the 4x2 relay team from Waukesha West [winner in 1:51.02] won by an eyelash over Classic 8 rival Arrowhead [1:51.07]. Liz Duchow from Arrowhead is pictured above handing off to Phoebe Nygren. Below left: Anchors Stephanie Stelpflug of Waukesha West [white jersey] and Arrowhead's Rachel Uebersohn are in a virtual tie with 50 meters to go. Below center: Kewaskum anchor Anna Butler. In another close finish Arrowhead was timed in 52.50 to Waukesha West's 52.62 to win the 4x1. Arrowhead relay members above L-R: Jenna Jubeck, Ali Slatter, Liz Duchow, and Rachel Uebersohn.

Arrowhead anchor Rachel Uebersohn edges ahead of Fond du Lac anchor Heather Velasco. Fondy was third in the 4x1 with a time of 52.86.
