Big 8 Conference 2010 Championships

Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Mansfield Stadium hosted by Madison West High School. Results.

The 'Regents' from Madison West won the 4x8 in 9:49.90. Relay runners for West were [L-R below]:

  • Mary Daly

Ashley Bartow [above left] a Sun Prairie sophomore took an early lead in the TJ competition with a 36' 11 performance. However Middleton senior and University of Wisconsin track and field recruit Laura McGinnis [above right] jumped 38' 02.00 on her second jump in the finals. This distance not only won the event it broke the old record set in 1987 [37' 11] by Jackie Johnson [Madison West].

Above left: Janesville Parker junior Paige Demos kept the Big '8' HJ title in the family by winning the 2010 HJ title. Her sister Shelby was the 2009 Big '8' Champion. Lauren O'Brien [2nd, Verona, above right] and Middleton's Tessa Nutt [3rd, Right] matched the 5' 02 performance of Demos but had more misses. Above and left: Beloit Memorial senior Felicia Carlson won the 100m and 200m dash events. She is shown in the finals of the 100m dash event above. Maggie Slatter from Janesville Craig was second while Sun Prairie's Latifah Bryant was third. Sun Prairie Coach Doug Maughan and his Cardinals edged out Middleton 128-126 to win their second straight Big Championship.

Above and left: Madison Memorial's Hannah Lucas a sophomore won the 400m dash [59.01] barely beating Sun Prairie sophomore Ashley Bartow [59.25].
