The Last Meet


Brian Bennett looks on as he oversees the last meet that he will run as meet manager at Darlington.

Brian started as a staff member at Darlington in 1968. He was an assistant football coach and later the AD for the Redbird athletic program. After retiring from teaching he remained as athletic director.

The Darlington 2010 WIAA Regional D3 Meet was his last official meet. The track and field area was in perfect shape with a well tuned staff that ran a crisp efficient meet.


Senior Katie Langmeier of Cuba City who is the All-Division HJ leader won the HJ at Darlington [5' 02]. Darlington student Dylan Nyffenegger took the video of Langmeier's winning jump.

Cassidy Chambers a ninth grader from Darlington [below] was second.


Monday was an incredibly hot day with temperatures in the 90's. Darlington won the Regional scoring 160 points to second place Cuba City's 130 points.

Darlington, Cuba City, Black Hawk, Pecatonica-Argyle, Albany, Southwestern, Belmont, Monticello, Shullsburg, and Benton competed in the Darlington Regional.





Belmont sophomore Kailee Kamps who is the current D3 leader in the shot and discus won those events at Darlington. She had throws of 39' 06 in the SP and 121' 03 in the discus event. Kailee's cousin Mary Ann Kamps took the video of Kamps in the SP event.





Senior Katie Place from Blackhawk [above left] was first in the TJ and 2nd in the LJ. Senior Emily Kaiser from Cuba City [above right] won the LJ [16' 03]

Above 1600m run L-R: Danielle Kunkel [12, Southwestern, 2nd], Kendra Sigg [10, Pecatonica-Argyle, 3rd], and winner Kelsey Bernet a senior from Monticello. Kunkel won the 3200m run with Bernet finishing second. Sigg won the 800m run.
