Weather Cannot Stop Excellent Efforts By Athletes

Friday, May 7, 2010, at Deerfield High School. Results

Despite overcast conditions, a cool night and a rain that never seemed to go away, seventeen D2 and D3 teams competed at Deerfield. Fans came well equiped and the tent city put up by athletes gave a welcome escape from the weather. Concentration is a must in the toolbox of skills needed by high jumpers. Each of the athletes pictured used a different pre-jump routine but all the routines had one purpose. That purpose was to defeat an opponent in the form of a bar placed at a height that sometimes exceeds the height of the athlete. Above L-R: Lauren Carpenter [Cambridge], Ashley Brusveen [Sugar River], and Marshall senior Marlene Miggins.
