The D1 800m run at the 2009 State Meet provided track fans with a dramatic finish after an outstanding race. Graduated senior Katie Hill of Onalaska edged out Lizzie Wendt of Germantown. Wendt was timed in 2:14.46 while Hill recorded a 2:14.28. The extraordinary efforts put in by both athletes in that race is another reason why track and field athletes make their sport special.
