Coach Bert Rogers Announces Marquette Recruits

|
The Marquette University men's and women's track and field programs have announced the signing of 10 student-athletes to a National Letter of Intent. All 10 will have four years of eligibility remaining when they arrive on campus to begin the 2010-11 school year. Three of the athletes ,are familiar names on the Girls Honor Roll. See press release.

SARAH BALL | MIDDLE DISTANCE | KENOSHA, WIS. | TREMPER H.S.
Sarah Ball comes to Marquette from Kenosha, Wis., where she earned four letters each in cross country and track and field at Tremper High School. A two-time track team captain and a cross country captain as a senior, Ball has been a state meet qualifier each year in both sports and earned all-state recognition as a junior and senior. In cross country, Ball was only the second person in the history of the Kenosha County Meet to capture an overall title four-straight years.

HANNAH FRETT | MIDDLE DISTANCE | WAUKESHA, WIS. | PEWAUKEE H.S.
Frett earned four letters in track and field and three in cross country at Pewaukee High School during her prep career. In cross country, Frett captured her conference championship as both a junior and senior, placing 18th and second at the state meet in 2008 and 2009, respectively. In 2009, she also helped her team win the state meet. On the track, Frett has qualified for the state meet in the 1,600-meter run each of the past three years, in addition to running the 3,200-meter relay during her junior and senior years. While qualifying for the state meet, Frett captured conference titles in the 1,600 and the 3,200 meters as a junior and senior. Frett also earned three letters in basketball and was a first team all-conference performer in 2009-10.

GRETCHEN HOMAN | SPRINTS | ELKHORN, WIS. | CATHOLIC CENTRAL
Homan comes to Marquette as a three-year letterwinner in track and field at Catholic Central High School where she earned all-conference honors in each of the last two years.
In addition to all-conference honors, Homan was named first team all-state and was also named the Racine Journal Times 2009 Athlete of the Year.
Holds school records in the 200 meters (25.32 seconds), 400 meters (56.69 seconds) and the 1,600-meter relay (4:05).
