Algoma ninth grader Kenney Blahnik is pictured releasing the discus on her 154' 03 throw at the Algoma D3 Regional at Algoma High School on Monday, May 23. Blahnik the current leader in the discus and SP on the All-Division Honor Roll Lists set a school record with her throw. She also leads the SP lists with a throw of 46' 04.50 at the Packerland Conference Championships held at Algoma High School on May 16. Kennedy's brother Zach who is a junior is currently #5 on the Boys discus and SP All-Division HR Lists [at WSN].
Blahnik under the coaching of her father Dean has had past success in youth track and field meets. In 2010 she set a discus record at the National Junior Youth Girls competition. In the shot put she tied a National Record in the USATF Junior Olympic National Youth Girls Meet held at Sacramento during the summer of 2010.
Algoma junior Karissa LeCaptain also had a big day at the Algoma Regional as she had a shot put throw of 39' 01 to take second and move on to the sectional at Princeton.
