Throw athlete Melanie Brickner who is a senior at Marathon High School is pictured above with Coach Raether who is the long time Marathon throws coach. Brickner has Top 5 performances in the D3 SP and Discus events. This year throwers in D3 have performed very well and seem headed to a real 'throwout' at the 2011 State Meet. Right: Brickner 2010. Melanie Brickner has her season best throws at the Six Team Meet held at Edgar on April 29. She threw the shot 38' 04.50 and had a 116' 11 throw in the discus event.. |

| Coach Gary Raether [shown above with Melanie Brickner at the 2010 State Meet] is a Wisconsin High School Football Hall of Fame member. In addition he is the long-time throws coach at Marathon. His son Michael and daughter Kristin were outstanding throw athletes at Marathon and in WIAC competition. He has coached 75 Marawood Conference throw champions and 13 State Champions in the girls and boys throws in his over 40 years of coaching at Marathon. Girls from Marathon who qualified for the State Meet in the last 10 years are listed below.
