Downtown Omro has murals covering the whole side of some of the buildings. The murals depict early life along the Fox River that runs through the middle of Omro. The City Hall [right] serves as a museum. A little known secret about Omro is that the city is the home of the largest snowman in Wisconsin. The 'O' of the Omro logo is a part of the snowmans apparel. The buttons on the snowman are wheel covers.

Distance coach Tom Dobberstein [above far left] ran track at Omro in the 1980's and returned in the 90's as a coach. He is the head boys and girls cross country coach. His son is a distance runner for the Foxes. The distance runners made use of a mild day to run a special drill outside. The '4x4' drill involves running a square consisting of 4 city blocks 4 times. The first block is 'walked', the 2nd block is a jog, the third block is a run, while the final block which is uphill is a sprint. This progressive uphill exericse is taxing but the distance runners were aggressive in attacking this challenge. The athletes below had their own 'pet name' for the hill which was the fourth component of the walk-jog-run-sprint drill.
For the day the distance runners made two of the dash athletes [below right] 'Honorary Distance Runners' so that they could participate in the drill. Below Left: Janna Crowley [orange t-shirt] and Jordan Huth [Bucky Badger black t-shirt] finished 1-2 for the girls distance runners in the '4x4' drill.
