Above: Despite a day of above freezing temperatures the track at Tomahawk is still buried under snow. Because of the milder temperatures only four students drove their snowmobiles to school [below-student parking lot]. During normal winter weather between 30 to 40 students drive to school on snowmobiles.

John Zuelsdorf [above and right] has been a mathematics teacher for 29 years-2 years at Sciocton and 27 years at Tomahawk. Zuelsdorf is the head boys and girls coach in cross country and track at Tomahawk.

Track athletes make use of the cardio center, the weight room and the special upper track that surrounds the gym area.

The upper track has a rubberized surface. Coach Zuelsdorf and other coaches and community members helped raise $35,000 about ten years ago to enable the upper track to be resurfaced. Ten laps make a mile. Tomahawk will host at least one indoor meet a year in the gym and upper track area. The gym has a long jump pit and plenty of room for the pole vault event.
