When Janesville Parker's Dave Figi and Dave Lehmann took over the compiling of the Honor Roll in 1994 they had no idea of what they were getting into. During the first week of the season they had zero results to report. The Milwaukee Journal had called asking for the week one Honor Roll. At that time the perception that results would automatically come in became a myth.

The first coach that Figi and Lehmann called was Dan Winzenreid from Sauk Prairie. Dan was most cooperative and helped lay out a plan whereby results could be gathered. Coach Winzenreid [right] is pictured at the Nelson Daniels Classic. He is the head boys and girls track and field coach at Sauk Prairie. This is his 33rd year as head boys coach and his 21st year as girls head coach.

Dan was an intern teacher at Janesville Parker before he was hired at Sauk Prairie. Due to the unsettled situation with education in Wisconsin this could be Dan's last year in Education. When the Honor Roll was floundering Winzenreid lent a helping hand to keep the endeavor alive.

Above: Katelyn Gallun [Grafton] finished 3rd in the 400m dash. Two Rock Valley rivals [right] competed in a very close 400m finish. Amanda Brom [#5] and Shannon Klein [#4] are shown coming out of the last turn [right].

Brom [left] posted a 1:02.43 to barely edge out Klein [above] who was timed in 1:02.62. They both served notice that the Rock Valley Conference will again have outstanding 400m runners. Fifth place 400m runner Jaclyn Barrette of Lodi is pictured below left.

In the 1600m run Kiera Depies [Cedar Grove-Belgium, above center] was third while Taylor Bauer [above right] of Fort Atkinson placed first. Beloit Turner's Casey Behnke [below left] was 6th in the 1600m run. Sarah Heineman [below right] placed 2nd in the 1600m.
