Track and field is a universal sport that appeals to all ages. This feature takes a look at the adult, youth, and high school athletes who celebrated competition at the 2012 USA Track And Field Wisconsin Indoor Championships.

The Carthage indoor facilities are new after a major renovation of the indoor track at the 'TARQ' Center..

Age Groups

  • Sub-Bantam - SB (born 2004 or later)
  • Bantam - B (born 2002-2003)
  • Midget - M (born 2001 or 2000)
  • Youth - YTH (born 1998 or 1999)
  • Intermediate - I (born 1996 or 1997)
  • Young - YG (born 1994 or 1995)
  • Open - O (ages 19 to 29)
  • Masters - Ma (ages 30 and up in 5-year divisions)

Athletes born in 1993 who are still in high school compete in the Young division.

Above right: Lauren Cunningham [#4829, Nicolet, 11] and Annie Hughes in the 3000m race. Age groups were combined in several events. Athletes competed on teams and also as 'unattached' athletes.

55m dash athletes above L-R: Shamiah Jones [12 yr old, St Paul, MN, Track Club], Alissa Elwing [Brookfield Central, 11] Alyssa Parker [Oak Creek, 11] Mackenzie Bonk [Brookfield Academy, 10] and Camille Gilson [Arrowhead, 12]. Gilson from Arrowhead won the PV [12' 00].


Milwaukee Riverside junior Valerie Thames [left] won the 55m HH event. Micaela Creighton [above and below left] a junior from South Milwaukee won the LJ event for Women. Thames and Creighton also ran in the 400m event.
