Summary By Dave Dixon

Hayward Head Coach

The Hayward girls track team wrapped up the 2014 track season in style on Saturday evening in LaCrosse by winning the Division 2 state team State championship.

The Lady Canes scored 38 points in the State Meet barely beating runner up Dodgeville/ Mineral Point by only one point.

The State championship came down to the last event of the meet, the 4 X 400 meter relay. Hayward had 38 points on the board already but did not have a team in the final race

Dodgeville did have a team in the race. The 4x400 was a great race right down to the wire but the anchor runner on the Brillion relay team held off a late charge by the Dodgeville anchor leg to win the race, leaving Dodgeville with 8 team points for second place and one point short of catching Hayward for the D2 state championship.
