D2 800m 2006 Champion Deidre Dillman [left] a junior from Prairie du Chien is pictured crossing the finish line in the 400m. She won the event with a time of 1:01.34. Ashley Beutler [above] is shown in the 1600m which she won in 5:15.29 . The Dodgeville-Mineral Point runner [blue jersey] is senior Ali Tank. Beutler also won the 800m [2:26.58].


River Valley's Jennie Armstrong [red jersey, lane 4] won the 55m with a time of 7.85. Taylor Fry [above left] a senior hurdler from the Richland Center Hornets won the 55m HH event. In the 2006 State Meet Fry placed 8th in the 100m HH's. Above center: 55m HH preliminaries. Above right: Shea Bierman a senior from Lancaster [gold] in the 55m HH preliminaries. In the 2006 State Meet Bierman finished third in the D2 300 LH.

Sophie Lee [ runner on the right] from Fennimore running in the 400m event. While watching and participating in a meet is exciting what is more exciting is to walk into your class the next day unprepared. As the meet progresses track and field athletes use the time between and after their events to prepare for the classroom. The athletes above were studying for AP Calculus and statistics.

The Sugar River 4x8 relay team from Belleville - New Glarus placed 3rd in the 2006 D2 WIAA State Meet. Three of the 'Sugar River' relay runners return for the 2007 season. Above L-R: Junior Amanda Crary, junior Ashley Beutler, and junior Carly Brown. At Platteville Sugar River won the 4x8 [10:42.69] and Carly Brown won the 3200m. The Sugar River track and field team placed second in D2 at the 2006 WIAA State Meet.
