2007 WIAA Track And Field Championships: THROWS

Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2, 2007: Veterans Memorial Stadium @ UW-La Crosse.Results.




D3 Discus: Mary Theisan a sophomore from Fall Creek was third [127' 03], Hannah Gronning a senior from Shell Lake won the gold medal [150' 01], and Sunni Massop a senior from Athens had a throw of 129' 01 to place second. Theisan also placed second in the shot put [39' 02.50] while Massop was third with a throw of 39' 02.00.

Gronning's throw set a new D3 discus record. Her throw of 150' 01 beat the the old record of 148' 09 which was set in 2003 by Kami Sweet of Riverdale. Hannah Gronning [upper right] also won the shot put with a put of 43' 00.50. Gronning did not restrict her activities to field events as she medaled in two track competitions at the 37th annual Girls State Meet.

Lower left: Gronning is shown in the 100m dash event in which she narrowly missed second place. Senior Jaclyn Aijala of Hurley was second in 12.94 while Gronning took third with a time of 12.98. Lower right: Shell Lake's 4x1 relay team took first place. The team [L-R] consisted of Paula Burton, Kayla Hillman, Hannah Gronning, and anchor Rachael Spears.


The Shell Lake team scored 43 points to finish as WIAA D3 2007 State Track and Field Champion.

Heidi Baerenwald was the D1 champion in the discus with a throw of 123' 09.
