Division 3 800m: Niagara junior Jamie Vandenberg [left] broke Stratford's Dani Owens record of 2:15.63 set in 2005 by posting a 2:13.29. The Prairie's Alexis Mikaelian who is a junior also broke the old record in finishing second in 2:13.43.


D3 3200m and 1600m: Sophomore MacKenzie Weber [above left] from Oshkosh Lourdes was first in the 3200m [11:01.61] and fifth in the 1600m [5:19.25]. Senior Kriston Siemiantowski [above center] was second in the 1600 [5:15.65] and Elise Sigg a junior from the Pecatonica-Argyle Vikings was third in the 1600m [5:16.70]. Haley Moeller of the Sevastopol Pioneers won the 1600m in 5:13.27.





Division 2 800m

Courtney Oldenburg [above right] a junior from West Salem edged defending champion Deidre Dillman [above center] a senior from Prairie du Chien in one of the many great races at the 2008 WIAA State Meet. Oldenburg posted a 2:15.03 to Dillmans 2:15.18.


Junior Kayla Wagner [above] from Baldwin-Woodville was second in the 3200m [10:38.44] and 7th in the 1600m.

Senior Jil Kerkman [left] from Union Grove was third [2:18.06] while ninth grader Shannon Klein [right] from Brodhead -Juda was fourth in 2:18.52.


D2 1600m and 3200m

What can one say after watching Ashley Beutler's last high school race? After setting the D2 1600m record in the 2007 State Meet Beutler waited out a long weather delay to run a late Friday night 3200m race that broke a long standing record held by Lori Wolter of Sauk Prairie in 1984.

Beutler's 10:33.43 broke Wolters old D2 record of 10:36.88 by more than 3 seconds. Beutler then returned on Saturday to win the 1600m race in 4:52.38. On Friday in the 4x8 relay Beutler displayed her team loyalty by taking the baton and sprinting to move from the end of the pack up to a fourth place finish for the Sugar River Raider 4x8 relay team.

D2 1600m: L-R Shannon Nemetz [Denmark sophomore, 4th,5:07.87], Claire Rindo [Berlin senior, 2nd, 5:02.28], Brea Tinney [Osceola junior, 4th, 5:09.40], and Jessica Schmidt [West De Pere junior, 5th, 5:09.45]. In the 3200m race Rindo was third in 10:48.11.

D1 800m: Sophomore Megan Palmer [far left] from Whitefish Bay won a highly competitive 800m race with a time of 2:13.82. Onalaska junior Jami Hill [2:14.67] was second and Middleton junior Maggie Bollig [black jersey, red headband] was third in 2:15.46. D1 1600m L-R: Megan Casey [DSHA], Carly Windt [Whitnall], Katie Peterson [Brookfield Central], Gabrielle Levac [Arrowhead], Whitney Schumacher [Kimberly], Jordan Kelch [Menomonie], Sarah Pederson [Oshkosh North], and Becca Gusmer [Green Bay Preble]. .

McCormack's leadership qualities were a special ingrediant that helped lead to the team success that the Brookfield Central Lancers had this season. She helped organize team activities that led to a bonding of the team and counseled younger teammates to help prepare them to cope with the rigors of competition at a State Meet.

D1 1600m: D1 1600m champion senior Rachael Kaminski [above] from Bay Port [5:06.74]. Jami Hill from Onalaska was second [5:07.16].

D1 3200m L-R: Repeat champion Katie Cumming a senior from Hudson, sophomore Maggie Priebe from Wausau East who finished 6th, and senior Julia Novak from Racine Case who was third.


D1 3200m: Regardless of the team distance athletes understand what it is to 'put out' and compete when their mind and body are nearing the shut down mode.
