D2 1600m and 3200m
What can one say after watching Ashley Beutler's last high school race? After setting the D2 1600m record in the 2007 State Meet Beutler waited out a long weather delay to run a late Friday night 3200m race that broke a long standing record held by Lori Wolter of Sauk Prairie in 1984.
Beutler's 10:33.43 broke Wolters old D2 record of 10:36.88 by more than 3 seconds. Beutler then returned on Saturday to win the 1600m race in 4:52.38. On Friday in the 4x8 relay Beutler displayed her team loyalty by taking the baton and sprinting to move from the end of the pack up to a fourth place finish for the Sugar River Raider 4x8 relay team.
Ashley Beutler [left and above] is pictured in Saturdays 1600m [left] race. Next season Beutler will exchange her Sugar River uniform for a Badger uniform as she plans to run for the University of Wisconsin cross country and track programs.
