Frederic [4x8] And Newman [4x1] Set Records In Relay Events

Despite a special protector and plastic the unending rains on Saturday finally got to the HR camera. Thus some events were missed while others were not covered completely. Using a backup camera proved to be less than desirable ~ DF.
Above: In the 4x1 preliminaries Newman Catholic had the best time of 50.44 followed by Cashton with 50.69. Newman athlete Hanna Prososki hands off to anchor Emily Schuster. Cashton's Amber Dahl yells encouragement to Eagles anchor Alyssa Arentz.
Newman set a D3 record in the 4x1 preliminaries. The record setting relay runners were Sarah Connolly, Andrea Schuster, Hanna Prososki, and anchor Emily Schuster. Newman broke the Poynette record of 50.46 set in 1985.

Frederic Breaks Cochrane-Fountain City Record in 4x8
The Vikings from Frederic recorded a 9:39.67 in the 4x8 to break the old record of 9:39.83 set in 2002 by Cochrane-Fountain City. Sophomore Sarah Knauber is pictured [above left] running the third leg of the relay while anchor Calla Karl a sophomore is shown above right. Newman Catholic was second [9:42.36] while Edgar was third [9:46.71[]. The Frederic Gold Medal winners are pictured below .

Milwaukee Lutheran, Omro, Seymour, And West Salem Win In Relay Events

Lutheran Sets 4x2 D2 Record
Milwaukee Lutheran won the 4x1 in 50.51 [49.49 in preliminaries]. The Red Knights of Milwaukee Lutheran set a 4x2 D2 record in the 4x2 preliminaries by recording a 1:43.22 to erase Whitewater's record of 1:43.93 set in 1986. Omro won the 4x2 finals however with a time of 1:45.59.
Seymour won the 4x4 in 4:02.05 while West Salem repeated as the 4x8 Champion posting a 9:30.24 which bettered their winning time of 9:33.01 from the 2008 WIAA State Meet.

Milwaukee Rufus King
Sets State 4x1 Record
During the Friday preliminaries the Milwaukee Rufus King 4x1 relay team set a State Record in the 4x1 by racing to a time of 47.74. This broke the old record of 47.93 set in 1994 by Milwaukee Technical.

The Tech 4x4 relay team recorded a 3:58.73 to win the Gold Medal. The tech 4x1 and 4x2 relay teams both took second which helped Coach Ken Williams Trojans win the D1 team championship at the WIAA 2009 State Meet. |
