Brookfield Central scored 116 points to win the Brookfield East D1 Sectional. The weather was perfect and the teams and athletes responded in grand fashion. Coach Jeff Ferguson's Brookfield East's 4x8 relay team opened the meet by setting a school record. Any fan that blinked missed the dash events as athletes put on a dazzling display of speed in the 100m, 200m, and 400m dash events. Sussex Hamilton's 4x1 and 4x2 relay teams used precise hand-offs to win those events.

Junior Dezerea Bryant from Milwaukee Bradley Technical.won the 100m event against a field that included 3 other sprinters in the Top 5 of the All-Division 100m HR List for the 100m.
She followed up her win in the 100m by winning the 200m dash.

The 400m race was a classic with two outstanding athletes pushing each other to the limit. Milwaukee Bradley Technical sprinter Tahje Whittley [left] was second in 55.90 while Brookfield Central's Chidera Obasih [right] was first with a time of 54.97. The sprinters are pictured above shoulder to shoulder coming out of the final turn.

Milwaukee Bradley Technical's Tiffany Matthews [above left] a senior set a blistering pace in the first lap [below] of the 800m. However Divine Savior Holy Angels runner Sarah Fox also a senior and Waukesha North sophomore Sammi Donovan stayed close. Fox took the lead [right] coming out of the final turn but Matthews had enough to inch out a win [2:18.33 to 2:18.58]. Donovan finished in third [2:20.78]. |

Brookfield Central junior Hannah Trasser [above] edged out sophomore Jocelyn Perry from Waukesha West for second place in the 1600m run.Junior
Jenna McMiller [left] won the 1600m and 3200m races. She is pictured on the left in the 1600m run [5:12.96].
In the 3200m all that separated McMiller from Hamilton's Theresa Selestow was .47 seconds. McMiller and Selestow who is a senior are the 1-2 runners on the Week 11 3200m Top Twenty List.

Brookfield East set a school record in the 4x8 by breaking the previous record set in 2005. Relay members who posted a 9:33.89 were [Clockwise from above left]: Taylor Conway, Natalie Dillon, Laura Werking, and anchor Katie Tolan.

Sussex Hamilton has used the formula of good runners executing crisp exchanges and an outstanding anchor to become a force in the 4x1 and 4x2 relays. Anchor Danielle Barbian [left] is shown in the 4x2 which Hamilton won with a time of 1:41.31. Brooke Patterson is shown above getting the baton to Barbian. Waukesha West was a close second in the 4x2 [1:41.88].
Below: The riot of action that takes place in the 4x1 relay makes that an incredibly exciting event. Hamilton won the 4x1 [48.82] while Bradley Technical behind a blazing anchor leg by Dezerea Bryant nosed out Waukesha West [48.91 to 49.06].

Above left: Ninth grader Nicole Larson [West Allis Central] was 3rd in the PV. Sussex Hamilton's Shannon Burke [above right] was second.
The PV winner was Melanie Pilon a senior at Waukesha South [10' 06]. Pilon also won the SP with a put of 39' 03.50. She had success in the shot in middle school but gave the pole vault a try as an athlete on Coach Eric Lehmann's track team. She has a PR of 11' 00 in the PV this season.
