The second day of the 2010 preseason found the Lancers working very hard as Coach Bowe and her assistants put the athletes through a challenging set of drills and stations meant to build the base necessary to compete at a high level in a tough conference.

After a short meeting the distance runners from Brookfield Central went outside for their workout. In cross country the Brookfield Central girls qualified for the State Meet where Hannah Trasser placed 14th.

After warmups and stretching the Lancers proceeded to execute a series of stations sandwiched between a circuit consisting of running the halls and going up and down a series of stairways.

Then six stations awaited the athletes. Pushups, situps, legwork on pads, jumping, mountain climbers, and core strengthening were rotated rapidly in 45 second segments.

The routine was repeated three times. INTENSITY was the word of the day and the athletes responded as they built a solid base that will payoff in competitive performances.

Brookfield Central competes in the Greater Metro Conference. The girls and boys teams practiced in the halls and old gym. The boys basketball team which is playing Milwaukee Hamilton in the sectional was practicing in the new gym at Brookfield Central.

The smiles tell it all. Junior Claire Stamborski [above right] had just returned to practice after getting a clear bill of health for a condition that could have limited or ended her participation in track. Anne Stamborski [above left] and Claire are twins who compete in the shot put and discus events for Brookfield Central. The friendly competition of the sisters has helped each improve.
