Even though March has given hints of a spring thaw the track at Arrowhead was still covered with snow. That was not a problem for the distance runners. However with 175 girls out for track head Coach Steve Kostka's [right] team used the hallways, the field house, and the large commons area to prepare for the season.
The baskeball gym was being used by the Arrowhead girls who are in the Sectional Basketball tournament. Some of the track team is pictured below warming up. The throwers were at the South Campus school gym while the distance runners had left for their outside run.

Coach Kostka said he was thankful for the excellent senior leadership at Arrowhead. That leadership is a key ingrediant to success when having a team of over 170 athletes.

With almost 200 boys out for track it was a juggling act for coaches to work their drills into the routine in the Arrowhead Field House. Pole vault coach Chris Adrian [above, orange shirt] worked with a large group of vaulters. Cami Gilson [below] is a State Meet veteran who returns for her junior year at Arrowhead

With 175 girls out for track Coach Kostka works hard to make sure each athlete will participate in a competition early in the season. With early season varsity and JV meets at Watertown, Waukesha North and UW-Whitewater that objective will be met. The girls above are checking which of the three meets they will participate in.
