2011 Lake Michigan Invite

Friday, March 25, 2011 at the 'TARC' on the campus of Carthage College. Results.




A strong contingent of Illinois schools competed in the 24 team Lake Michigan Invite. The meet orgainized by Kenosha Bradford and run by the staff of coach Stephanie Domin's Carthage womens team was won by Lake Central [IL] who outscored Milwaukee Bradley Technical 92- 53 to win the 24 team meet. For an early season meet the sprint times were off the chart. Dezerea Bryant, a senior at Bradley Technical won the 55m and 200m dash events [6.85, 23.96]. In heat 1 above L-R: Tahje Whittley [7.24, 2nd overall], Ebony Smith [Waukegan,IL, 7.48, 4th overall], Bryant, and Aliyah Reams [Waukegan, IL, 7.50, 5th overall].

Senior Tahje Whittley from Milwaukee Bradley Technical and Mundelein [IL] Carmel Catholic sprint star Megan Paul had a spirited duel in the 400m dash. Whittley accelerated off the last turn to win in 57.59. Paul recorded a 58.12.

Homestead senior Marissa Savitch [left and above] won the 55m HH race [8.26]. Her time improved her All-Division leading time in the 55m HH event.



Marianne Collard from Crystal Lake South [IL, green 'Gators' jersey-far right above] won the 1600m run in 5:19.89.Below L-R: Ali Anich [Racine Horlick], Mary Kate Bernier [Racine Case], Mackenzie Bauer and Haley Bauer [Cedarburg]. Illinois high schools start their indoor season at the end of January.

LJ athletes above L-R: Marissa Savitch [Homestead, 16' 05.25] and Milwaukee Vincent's Thaniqua Mckinney. Long jump athlete Kanedra Lee [below right] from Waukegan won that event with a jump of 17' 10.50. The schools were mostly D1 teams and ranged in size from Waukegan [Illinois, 4,352 students] to Reedsville [Wisconsin, 243 students] .


Above: Have you ever doubled in the 3200m run and the 4x4 relay? There is not a whole lot of recovery time between those two events. Veronica Diedrich of New Berlin Eisenhower found the solution to that predicament. She made a 'Super Man Cape' to enable her to survive that tough double event!.
