2011 WIAA Track And Field Championships: DASH

Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4, 2011: Veterans Memorial Stadium @ UW-La Crosse. Results.

Senior Dezerea Bryant had the crowd on their feet as the large throng that attended the 2011 meet knew that they were witnessing history at the 2011 State Meet. Bryant did not disappoint. In the 100m she broke her old record set in 2010 of 11.50 with a 11.38 time and then in the 200m she received a standing ovation after establishing a new record of 23.01 which broke her old record set in 2010 of 23.37. Both times leave her in the top 2 of the elite of high school dash athletes.

400m winner Chidera Obasih [12, Brookfield Central, 56.58]

Final turn of the 400m finals L-R: Crystal Malone [10, Milwaukee Riverside, 3rd], Taylor Naatz [10, Watertown, 4th], and second place medal winner Tahje Whittley a senior from Milwaukee Bradley Technical.

With 50 meters to go Obasih and Whittley were locked in a tight race. Obasih won in 56.58 to Whittley's 56.86.
