2011 W/TFA Indoor Championships: Field Events

One of the two new athletes to make an impression in the field events was Kennedy Blahnik [left and above] from D3 Algoma. Blahnik's throw of 43' 1.50 took first place at the 2011 W/TF Meet.

|
The Blahnik family made the over 3 hour trip to the W/FTA Meet a most worthwhile venture. Their son Zach took second in the boys meet held in the morning. Zach's best throw was 56' 02.25.
Kennedy was the national champion in the shot put and discus in 2010 and 2009 in her age group for USATF. She broke the USATF meet record for the discus in her age group with a throw of 143' 4. In the shot put she tied the national record in her age group with a put of 52' 1.25" (6 lb shot).

Wrightstown [D2 school located about 1/2 way between Green Bay and Appleton] vaulter Bonnie Drexler [above] while only a ninth grader announced her arrival on the high school track scene in an impressive way. She more than held her own in the dash competition and then proceeded to vault 11' 07 to win the PV competition..
