Blackhawk High School: 146 Students

Sophomore Jen Wellnitz from D2 Blackhawk [146 students] is shown above in the LJ. Welnitz was ranked #2 in the D3 100m dash and #4 in the D3 200m dash on the early Week 7 HR List. Wellnitz is pictured in the HJ below.

During the 2011-12 basketball season Wellnitz helped lead Blackhawk to a 22-3 season. Blackhawk offers volleyball , basketball, and softball and track and field for girls and competes in the Six Rivers Conference.

Blackhawk offers softball and track and field in the Spring Season. Students can participate in both sports which makes event planning for track and field with 18 events a challenge for coach Cory Milz. Regardfless of a schools size the passion among athletes and coaches for track and field is alive in Wisconsin. At one time D3 schools like Dodgeland and ULS [69 students] only had one athlete out for girls track and field. However those athletes and their success influenced other students to participate in track and field. Last year Belmont [86 students] had 4 girls out for track. This season 7 athletes are on the girls team. Thus regardless of size schools have a chance to make an impact on an athletes education by their participation in track and field.
