Returning D2 State Champions L-R: Tess Nelson [11, Northwestern, 300m LH], Heather Clankie [12, Brodhead-Juda, Discus], Madeline Haupert [12, La Crosse Aquinas, 800m], Andrea Ostenso [11, Ladysmith, 1600m], Bonnie Draxler [10, Wrightstown, 400m PV], Deysha Smith-Jenkins [12, Dominican, 100m, 200m], Raquel Ebbe [12, Nekoosa, LJ, TJ], and Jessie Welch [12, West Salem, HJ]
Nelson came into the meet with the fastest seed time in the 300m LH. However with one hurdle to go in finals she was two strides behind but had an amazing finish to win the Gold Medal. Clankie threw 129' 3 in the discus event to take first. Versatile middle and long distance runner Madeline Haupert won her Gold Medal in the 800m run with a time of 2:14.61.
Ostenso would not disappear in the 1600m run and held on to beat defending 2010 1600m champion Allie Woodword by .05 seconds with a time of 4:54.20. Draxler turned heads on the track and in the field winning the 400m dash in 56.28 and the PV with a height of 11' 03. Dash athlete Deysha Smith-Jenkins won the 100m in 12.13 and the 200m in 24.64. Smith-Jenkin's time in the 200m was a D2 State Record. Ebbe also excelled on the track and in the field. She medaled in the 200m [3rd] and 400m [5th] dash events and won the Gold Medal in the LJ [17' 11] and the TJ [37' 03.50]. Welch wrote her name into the State Track and Field History Book by winning the HJ [5' 05].
