MONDO Invitational

Saturday, April 14, 2012 at West Allis Nathan Hale High School. Results

Senior Michelle Garner [below] from Greenfield ran in two of the most memorable races in State Meet history in 2010 and 2011.

She is the two time D1 300m LH defending champion winning both of those races with come from behind wins.

Garner matched up with another outstanding hurdler in the Mondo Meet 300m race producing a 'replay' of her State Meet wins with a come from behind win.

Brookfield East, Cudahy, Greenfield, Waukesha West, Waukesha North, Franklin, Sussex Hamilton, West Bend West, Homestead, Catholic Memorial, Oak Creek, DSHA, West Allis Central, Whitnall, University School, competed at West Allis Hale. Waukesha West won the meet with West Bend West finishing second.

The West Allis track and field facility is new with a 'Mondo' track [see a lane below] installed last October. There are jump pits on either side of the football field and two HJ pits can be set up in each end zone. West Allis is the first high school in Wiscosnin to install a Mondo surface. The surface is the same as used in the last Olympics in China and will be used in the 2012 Olympics being held this sumner in London..

Bringing together outstanding hurdlers and a fast track is a sure formula for two outstanding hurdle races. Senior Kaitlyn Hastings [right and below] from D2 Waukesha Catholic Memorial ran an aggressive 100m HH race which resulted in a time of 15.36.

The finals of the 100m HH are shown above L-R: Jenny Lawton [Whitnall, 3rd], Michelle Garner [Greenfield, 2nd], Hastings, Melanie Ziolecki [West Allis Nathan Hale, 4th], and Daniella Silva [West Allis Central, 5th].
