Press release from Dodgeville - Mineral Point Head Boys and Girls Track And Field Coach Joe Hanson

Published in the Dodgeville Chronicle for Dodgeville and the Democrat-Tribune, for Mineral Point

Mineral Point senior Anna Eisenzimmer, daughter of Gary and Joanne Eisenzimmer will enroll at the University of Iowa and run for the Hawkeyes beginning in the fall of 2014. Eisenzimmer chose Iowa over several state universities and Creighton University who were competing for her to run for them. According to sources close to the situation Anna will receive an academic scholarship and an opportunity to compete on the Cross-Country and Track teams.

Coach Hanson had the following to say about Eisenzimmer:

“Anna is a great competitor, one of the very best we have had come through the program. Lately she has struggled with some serious injuries but has never given up hope to be back as a top contender at the State level. Not long ago, Anna was the school record holder for 3200 meters and our top Cross Country runner. With a great work ethic and a positive attitude, I feel she is on the verge of returning to top form this spring.”

“Running at the University or College level is more physical and mentally demanding than our level. Our program has been fortunate enough to have athletes go on and succeed at that level. The common thread among those athletes is the mental toughness that it takes. I believe Anna has that rare quality.”

“Anna has been a tremendous asset to our Cross-Country and Track programs over the past three and one-half years, her athleticism and academic qualities speak for themselves. She is an outstanding roll model for our younger athletes, she will be missed next fall”.
