MEDFORD AREA WIAA D2 SECTIONAL MEET
John Reed's photographs show some of the athletes who competed at Medford Area High School in a WIAA D2 Sectional Track and Field Meet. In D2 and D3 the top 4 individuals/relay teams advance to the State Meet. Teams competiting came from the following four regionals:
BLOOMER REGIONAL - Altoona, Arcadia, Black River Falls, Bloomer, Chetek-Weyerhaeuser, Elk Mound, Mondovi, and Neillsville/Granton,
Stanley-Boyd.
COLBY REGIONAL - Chequamegon, Colby, Lakeland, Medford Area, Mosinee, Northland Pines, Stratford, Tomahawk, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
FREDERIC/LUCK REGIONAL - Ashland, Barron, Cameron, Cumberland, Frederic/Luck, Hayward, Ladysmith, Northwestern, and Rice Lake,
Spooner.
OSCEOLA REGIONAL - Amery, Baldwin-Woodville, Durand, Ellsworth, Osceola, Prescott, Saint Croix Central, Saint Croix Falls, and Somerset.
Osceola won the meet with 73 points followed by Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Hayward, and Altoona. Thirty-three teams scored in the meet.

The throw athletes above are shown in the finals of the SP. Katie Taylor from Hayward won the event with a best throw of 44' 11.50. She did this in the trials but did not throw in the finals.

100m Hurdles Pre-lims. Senior Haley Beams Black River Falls [above center in the prelims] won the 100m Hurdle Final in 15.78 followed by her teammate So Stephanie Brauner [15.79, hidden]. Jennifer Kleinschmidt SR Prescott [above left] finished 3rd in finals. Kleinschmidt won the preliminary heat above.
Above 1600m race: Leading around the first turn in 1st place is Alicia Monson from Amery followed by Kendall Zeman SO Bloomer [orange jersey] , Amy Wallis JR Ashland, Lauren Meyer FR Medford and Chequamegon's JR Hailey BeBeau. Monson won the 1600m in 5:16.61. She won the Silver Medal at the 2015 State Meet in the 1600m with a time of 4:55.32. Later in the meet at the Medford Sectional Monson came back to win the 3200m run in 11:23.47. She won the Gold Medal in that event last year at La Crosse.

Right 300m LH finals: Altoona's Mariah Hoepner SO Altoona took first in 46.64 followed by Osceola's Hannah Salami [46.67].
Right: The Winner in the 400m run Abby Zastrow JR Arcadia crosses the finish line posting a time of 57.30.
