Head boys and girls cross country coach Arnie Miehe who is an assistant on the boys and girls track and field teams has been at Darlington for 37 years. For 34 of those years he has organized a grade school program that encourages students to give cross country a try.

For his outstanding contributions to his community and school Coach Miehe was named the National Boys Cross Country Coach for 2015 by the Coaches Association of the National Federation of High Schools. The award was given in January of this year. At the Redbird Invitational Miehe was recognized for his outstanding accomplishment.
