D1 Pole Vault

De Pere vault coach Don Penza had three vaulters at the State Meet and all performed very well as De Pere athletes took the Gold and Silver Medals in that event.

De Pere senior Kylie Swiekatowski took the Gold Medal, while teammates Grace Kowalkowski won the Silver Medal and Olivia Fabry [photo from 2016 W/TFA] placed ninth. Kowalkowski and Fabry are ninth graders.

In addition senior Kylie Swiekatowski [right and left] broke the D1 record of 12' 06 with a vault of 12' 07.

Swiekatowski was the D1 PV Champion at the 2014 State Meet.

The photo on the left shows Swiekatowski clearing 12' 06 which tied the D1 record set by:

Ashwaubenon's Liza Lewis [2003], Ashwaubenon's Alex Flucke [2012] and Arrowhead's Camile Gilson [2012].

Note~ PV action photos were shot from across the track as I was covering the running prelims and finals. Thanks to a Canon lens I was able to capture some of the jumps by the PV athletes. DF.
