Where the 'Journey To The Championship' started

As in previous years there was another 'championship team' at the WIAA Meet. Stephanie Hauser Assistant WIAA Director in charge of track and field and her army of volunteers gave the fans and athletes a first class experience. One pair of volunteers most athletes and fans know either through on-site help or voice are husband and wife team Ruth [above] and Randy Pickering. The two have been fixtures at the State Meet for years. Ruth is the Clerk of Course in the Head Tent while Randy [giving fans an update on the weather delay] does much of the announcing at the State Meet.
In addition the UW-La Crosse track and field team helps at the meet. During the weather delay Saturday afternoon some of the women from the UW - La Crosse track and field team stayed alert with a reaction game. Do you recognize the former State Champions in the group? Hints: 1 | 2
