Andacht has been coaching track and field for 45 years. Andacht coached at St Josephs for two years while he was still in college and then taught and coached at St Josephs for 8 years.

Andacht then went to Catholic Memorial where he has been the coach for the last 35 years. He teaches AP Economics at Catholic Memorial.

Assistant coaches below left L-R: Alicia Dougherty [Sprints, LJ, and discus], LeAnn Kellner [Sprints and SP], and distance coach Michelle Ehli. All are former Catholic Memorial students/athletes

The athletes warmed up with a series of stretches interspaced with form running on the runner mat which spanned two gyms, hallways, and a cafeteria.

In 2016 there were 17 girls out for the Crusader track and field team. This season there are 33 girls on the team.

Day 7 Of The 2017 Preseason

Despite being inside the sprinters wore spikes. A 150m long series of mats that spanned two gyms and a cafeteria allowed runners to train on a softer surface.

The boys and girls track and field teams shared the two gyms with girls rugby and boys La Crosse.

The wonders of a Wisconsin March 13th weather pattern covered southern Wisconsin and the Milwaukee/Waukesha area with a thick blanket of snow

The sprint athletes worked on a variety of start drills, form running, resistance running, and overspeed training

In the overspeed drill Coach Dougherty 'towed' runners to a higher speed which athletes then maintained when 'released'.

Catholic Memorial has had success with its sprint relays. Athletes were drilled in quick hands stationary handoffs [school record is 3 exchanges in .49 seconds] as well as a bunched drill where all four runners in a tight pack exchange the baton while running at speed. The athletes below are working on the 'high handoff' technique which is a trademark of Catholic Memorial sprint relay teams. Example from the 2014 Nelson Daniels Classic at UW-Whitewater showing Emily Kern and Erin Jaynes.
