Arizona State Redshirt freshman Samantha Noennig a former Hartford Union athlete won the JR Womens Shot Put with a throw of 55' 00.75

Samantha Noennig won the USATF Junior Nationals with a new P.R. of 55' 00.75.

She bested a field of 21 of the top Under 20 throwers in the nation. This was the first competition competing in a uniform for Arizona Sate University after completing her red-shirt season for the Sun Devils during the spring of 2017.

The best track and field athletes in the country competed at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium to qualify for the IAAF World Championships. Women in the JUNIOR [JR] events have a chance to qualify for the Pan American Junior Games July 21-23 in Trujillo, Peru.

She will represent the United States at the Pan American Junior Games later in July in Peru.

On Thursday, June 22, Noennig finished 4th in the discus and recent Baraboo graduate Josephine Schaefer was 8th.

Sam Noennig finished in 3rd Place in the Women's Shot Put, earning the Bronze Medal for Team USA at the Junior Pan American Games in Trujillo, Peru. The Games were held from July 21st through July 23rd. Team USA won the competition with a total of 53 medals, followed by Canada with 21, Cuba with 9, and Mexico with 6.].
