Wisconsin Track Coaches Association Class Of 2018 Hall Of Fame Inductees

Female athletes Kristen Barr - Wausau Newman HS ( 2004), Becca Buchholtz - East Troy HS (2008 ) and Cindy Lensmire - Marathon HS (1981) and male athletes Marcus Jenkins - Milwaukee Bradley Tech (2008), Doug Lowell - Deerfield HS (1981), and Lance Olson - Green Bay West HS (1956) and coaches Glen Gardiner - Milwaukee Vincent (1996-2011) and Wauwatosa East (2011-present), and Gary Raether Marathon HS (1968-2017) were inducted into the Wisconsin Track Coaches Association Hall Of Fame Class Of 2018 in a ceremony held at the Madison Marriott.

In addition Josh Buchholz from UW-LaCrosse was awarded the Merit Award for outstanding achievement in the promotion, growth, and professional support of track and field in the State of Wisconsin. Athletes of the Year recognized were Cami Davre - Whitefish Bay HS [2017 Individual State Champion in the 800 (2:12.07), 1600 (4:56.76) and 3200 (10:53.67) ] and Cordell Tinch - Bay Port HS [2017 individual State Champion in the LJ (24-2.25) and TJ (49-2.25 State Record), 2nd in the HJ (6-8) and the 110 H (14.59, prelims 14.29)].

Davre has graduated and now competes for the University of Michigan while Tinch is a senior at Bay Port High School. Tinch has signed a NLI to compete for the University of Minnesota in football for the 2018-19 school year.

Jim Stephany is the new Awards Chaiman and Historian. Jim takes over for Craig [Gilman] and Sharon Shepard.

Jim Stephany taught children with special needs for 35 years at Wausau West High School.

Jim has coached at West since 1977 and is currently the throws coach. He has served WISTCA as President Elect, President, Past President, District 2 Rep, Secretary and now as Awards Chairman.
