Eight years ago Wisconsin Track Online visited a Milwaukee Mustangs practice that highlighted the summer programs of track clubs that teach track and field skills and give athletes a chance to develop against regional and national competition. Track clubs like the Wings of Glory and the Milwaukee Mustangs offer opportunities to not only Milwaukee area athletes but athletes from Wisconsin communities to develop their skills under outstanding coaching.


A Few Of The Athletes Who Competed For The Milwaukee Mustangs During The Summer Of 2018

Amari Brown - Milwaukee King

Destiny Huven - Nicolet

Kevin Martins an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Mustangs Track Club in discussing the accomplishments of the Mustangs this year at the AAU Nationals stressed the benefits for track athletes throughout the State of Wisconsin in realizing that their season does not have to end when the high school season is over. He stated "...our state produces so much talent in Track and Field, but it's only the tip of the iceberg on what the state could offer. The Milwaukee Mustangs are recognized not only as the best AAU team in Wisconsin, but is now recognized as one of the best Nationally."

Some of the summer highlights for the Mustangs included the 17-18 years old Men's National Champion 4x100 and the following athletes :
Elijha Johnson (Milwaukee Washington) (2nd in 100 (10.49) 4th in 200 (20.03).
Cornelius Bright (Oak Creek) 8th in 100.
Sam Mahone (Stoughton).
Lewis Huenink ( Wauwatosa East).
Julian Rodriguez-Richards (Milwaukee King) 4th in 400
Chase Roberts (Wauwatosa East) 400m
Future stars: Nathan Cumberbatch (will be 8th grade, Shorewood, 2nd in 800).
