WVC Meet From Marshfield

Wisconsin Valley Conference schools D. C. Everest, Merrill, Stevens Point, Wausau East, Wausau West, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln and host Marshfield competed at the Everett and Dolores track at Marshfield High School. Roisin Willis a junior at Stevens Point Area Senior High School won the 200m and 400m races in addition to anchoring the SPASH winning 4x4 relay. Willis set a Conference record in the 400m race posting a 53.62 to break the 2018 record of Brooke Jaworski [54.43]. Junior Elizabeth Schmidt from Merrill won the 800m and 1600m events. In the throws senior Danni Langseth won both the SP and the Discus events, she also set a new WVC record in the discus. This feature has photographs by Kelly O'Day. 4x400m Relay
Anchor Roisin Willis took the baton from Hailey Abbott in the 4x4 with SPASH in 6th place. Similar to her 2019 WIAA State Meet anchor leg in the 4x4 [taking the baton in 5th place at La Crosse and then finishing 1st to give SPASH the 2019 WIAA D1 4x4 title] Willis brought home the win for Stevens Point edging out Merrill 4:14.50 to 4:16.30. A coach had an unofficial lap time for anchor Elizabeth Schmidt of 2nd place Merrill of 60 seconds giving an indication of what Willis ran on her anchor lap. Note-Some coaches had the Willis split somewhere between 52.9 and 53.1.

400m Dash
In 2018 Wausau West's Brooke Jawosrski set the WVC 400m dash record with a time of 54.43. At this years meet Roisin Willis blazed to a clocking of 53.62 to set a new Wiscosin Valley Conference record in the 400m dash. [Note - WIAA State records can only be set when run at the WIAA State Meet].
800m 1600m, 4x400m Relay
Junior Elizabeth Schmidt from Merrill has been a standout in the distance races this season. She won the 1600m in 5:00.54 and then later in the meet posted a 2:18.16 to win the 800m run event. At the end of the meet Schmidt anchored the Merrill 4x4 to a 2nd place finish.
Throws At Marshfield 2021
Senior Danni Langseth from D. C. Everest is the D1 and All-Division leader in the throwing events [SP - 46' 09.50, Discus-167' `10]. she won the WVC SP title with a throw of 44' 09.50.In the discus event she launched a throw of 167' 10. This throw erased the old record of 137' 04 set by D. C. Everest's Natalie Mohring at the 2018 WVC Conference Meet.
