WIAA D2 Sectional At Rice Lake

John Reed's photos share some of the highlights from the WIAA D2 Sectional at Rice Lake. Thirty-two teams scored with coach Tom Kammers La Crosse Logan team taking the win with 65.5 points followed by Osceola, Amery, Rice Lake, and Mosinee. Returning 2021 WIAA Champions Nora Gremban [ Northland Pines, 800, 1600] and Kalli Knoble [La Crosse Logan, HJ] return in their specialties with Knoble also winning the sectional TJ title and helping Logan to a first place finish in the 4x1. The Hayward 4x2 and 4x4 won sectional titles and Mauston's Brie Eckerman won both hurdle events. Shot Put
Left and center: Audra Gallick a SP Medalist from 2021 returns in the SP with a winning throw of 42' 02. She is a senior from Adams-Friendship. Audra was 2nd in the discus with a throw of 126' 08. The discus winner was St. Croix Fall's senior Kylie Broten [127' 01]. Her sister Bethany [above right] who is a ninth grader placed 6th [SP] and 9th in the discus events.

4x800m Relay
4x8 relay: left- Amery leg 2 runner Alex Edwards hands off to leg 3 runner Ana Gould. In a close finish Lakeland Union's anchor Kiara Rotar crosses the finish line in 10:02.89 to edge out Amery [10:02.98]. Amery's anchor above right is Natasha Tiry.
4x200m Relay
Hayward 4x2 anchor Sarah Grubbs crosses the finish line in 1:46.03. Hayward edged out La Crosse Logan which recorded a 1:46.25. Logan's anchor is Lauren Jarrett. Hayward also won the 4x4 relay event in 4:05.42.
400m Dash
Defending D2 400m Champion and record holder Eliana Sheplee from Rice Lake posted a 57.33 to win the 400m dash. Reese Rogowski [Wittenberg-Birnamwood, above right green jersey] was second in 58.25
100m High Hurdles
Junior Brie Eckerman from Mauston is shown above in the 100m HH event. she won that in 15.45 and then came back to win the 300m LH in 46.19. Above left: Barron's Hailee Halverson was 3rd in the HH and Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeu's Quinn Wenthe was a close 2nd in the 100m HH [blue jersey s, 15.59]. Wenthe was also 2nd in the 300m LH. 800m and 1600m Run
Northland Pine's sophomore Nora Gremban won the 800m [2:16.47] and 1600m [5:01.21] events. She now returns to defend those titles which she won at the 2021 WIAA State Meet.
Long Jump
Sophomore MacKenzie Wissbroecker from Antigo returns to the WIAA State Meet in the long jump event. She jumped 17' 11 to win the Rice Lake Sectional LJ event.
High Jump
La Crosse Logan senior Kalli Knoble will return to La Crosse to defend the HJ title she won in 2021. At the Rice Lake Sectional she cleared 5' 02 to win that HJ event. She also won the TJ with a distance of 35' 10.25. Note - Photos of Knoble from the 2021 WIAA State Meet by Wisconsin Track Online.
