13th Annual Raider Invitational

Raider Invitational hosted by Sugar River on Thursday May 8, 2008 at Belleville High School: Results




Eleven teams competed at the 13th annual Sugar River Invitational. Evansville and Clinton both D2 schools from the Rock Valley Conference finished 1-2 while D2 Sugar River and D3 Pecatonica-Argyle finished 3-4.


Hailey Meier [right] a junior from D3 Black Hawk finished first in the 100m dash event. Deerfield's Alyssa Rogers [far left] was second while Nikki Hollis [left] from Evansville took third.


In the 200m dash Leah Heimerl [above left] of Evansville took first followed by Stephanie Jahn [ above center] of Deerfield and Megan Neperud [above right] of Sugar River.


Haley Meier of Black Hawk became a double winner when she ran 1:02.5 to win the 400m dash event. Meier is pictured on left and above right. Rachel Miller of Sugar River came in second [left-Black jersey]. Above center: Third place finisher Nicolette Blumer of Albany [white jersey] and fifth place finisher Tanna Crull of Pecatonica - Argyle are shown on the backstretch.

Junior Elise Sigg [right and left-green jersey] of D3 Pecatonica - Argyle was a triple winner at the Sugar River Invitational. She won the 1600m [5:28.2], 800m [2:29.9] and was on the Viking 4x4 relay team which won in 4:21.3. On the left are Carly Brown [black jersey] from Sugar River who finished second in the 1600m and Waterloo's Cassie Forman who finished fourth.

Senior Amanda Allen from Deerfield accomplished a 'PR' when she won the shot put with a throw of 36' 07. Allen is on the HR for the D2-D3 SP and discus events.

Black Hawk's Savannah Erzen [L] and Albany's Devan Brugger [Below-white jersey] both were clocked in 16.9 in the 100m HH finals. Brugger was judged the winner, Brugger also won the 300m LH's.


Alycia Krebs [R] of Clinton was third in the HH's.


Amber Rogers [Below-black jersey] is pictured in the preliminaries of the HH event. Rogers won the pole vault with a height of 9' 06.

Leah Heimerl [R] a junior from Evansville won the LJ and TJ events.


Teammate Rachel Bromley [L] was second in the LJ.


Emily Buchanan [not pictured] from Clinton won the HJ [5' 00.].




Blackhawk won the 4x1 relay. The relay runners were [L-R] Katie Place, Hailey Meier, Savannah Erzen, and Rachel Rygh. Below: Rachel Rygh hands off to anchor Hailey Meier.


Albany 4x2 relay runner Sydney Bump [above left]. Pecatonica - Argyle 4x2 anchor Ariel Noble [Above center]. The Pecatonica - Argyle Viking 4x2 relay team [L-R]: Kimee Chandler, Ariel Noble, Cassie Welch, and Holly Vlasak. A DQ prevented a first place by the Vikings in the 4x2. Deerfield won the 4x2 in 1:55.7.


The Sugar River Raider relay team ran a 10:20.9 to win the 4x8 event.
