Track and Field fans lucky enough to have been at the 2008 State Track and Field Meet were witness to a memorable performance by Dodgeland athlete Megan Rennhack. Rennhack who is a senior is pictured on the left walking off the track after the 100m HH's with second place finisher Jodi Bender from D3 team champion Whitehall.
Rennhack had just won the HH's in 14.63 breaking the D3 record of 14.99 set by Laure Perruchord from Brillion in 1996. The overall State Record is 14.60. Fifteen minutes prior to the HH event Rennhack placed 2nd in the D3 100m race.
She had more time to rest before her next race the 300m LH event. She carved over a second off the D3 record of 44.98 set by Shari Hafenstein from Waterloo in 1986 by blazing to a 43.75 clocking. The overall state record in the LH event is 43.46. |

D2 300m LH: As a sophomore Bridget Sarafin from Stanley Boyd was the State Champion in the 300m LH. Last year she finished second to Anna Johnson of Appleton Xavier. This year as a senior she returned and in a razor thin finish won the 300m LH D2 event. Sarafin's time of 45.74 was enough to edge the 45.76 posted by sophomore Megan Gwyn [above left] of the Northland Pines Eagles. Sheila Opelt [left] a junior from Neillsville finished third. Opelt had a busy State Meet as she also competed in the HJ, HH [5th] and LJ [3rd] events. |

D1 100m HH: Two years ago a sophomore from Watertown running in the 100m HH finals from lane 9 surprised everyone by winning the D1 HH event. As a junior the hurdler from Watertown finished 4th in the HH and 5th in the LH events.
This year as a senior Watertown's Lindsay Schwartz swept both hurdle races with outstanding times. She won the HH's in 14.70 and the LH's in 44.23. She also finished 2nd in the D1 HJ event [5' 05].

Below 100m HH preliminaries L-R: Madeline Emme [Watertown], Calanetta Burrows [Menomonee Falls senior, 2nd, 15.01], Katelyn Malcore [Brookfield Central sophomore, 5th, 15.24], and third place finisher in the HH Jessica Wilcox [Fond du Lac, 15.18].
In the 300m LH Brookfield Central's Katelyn Malcore finished third [45.11]. Malcore had a big State Meet as she also finished fifth in the D1 TJ [ 36' 05.00] in helping the Lancers of Brookfield Central win the D1 team championship. |
