Above: Head boys and girls coach Mike Jones of Florence discusses the next jump with junior Aileen Lemanski. For the third year in a row Lemanski won the D3 LJ. This year she set a new D3 record by leaping 18' 06.25. This broke the old record of 18' 02.25 that Lemanski set at the 2007 State Meet. During the season Lemanski had trouble breaking the 17 foot mark. However once the tournament series started that changed. When Lemanski was a ninth grader her sister Abbie was a pole vaulter so it appeared that she might also train for that event. However coach Jones encouraged Lemanski to also try the LJ event. Her first jump as a ninth grader in competition was 14' 11. At the 2006 State Meet she jumped 17' 06.50 to win the LJ title.
Junior Jessi Smith [above left] of Onalaska Luther placed thrid in the D3 LJ [17' 01] while Jodi Bender [above center] a senior from the Whitehall D3 Championsip Team was second [17' 02.50].

Right: Bell clears 10' 09 for the Gold Medal in the D2 PV event.
After missing twice at 10' 06 Bell was successful on her first attempt at 10' 09.
In baseball it would be two outs, bottom of the ninth, two strikes and the game on the line. In field events your also out on three 'strikes.' With the bar at 10' 06 senior Ryanne Bell [left and above] of Boscobel was down to one attempt having missed twice after sophomore Danielle Vetesnik of Richland Center had cleared 10' 06. Bell cleared 10' 06 on her last attempt.

At the 2006 State Meet Buchholtz won the HJ event. Then as a junior she set the D2 record with a jump of 5' 09.

Shalesa Smith [right] a junior from Milwaukee King was third [37' 01.00] while Heberts teammate Maureen Podkomorski [above right] a senior finished fourth [36' 10.75].

Junior Hannah Wallace from Whitefish Bay cleared 11' 03 to place second.
Similar to Ryanne Bell in the D2 PV event Shelby Demos [left] a junior from Janesville Parker was one miss away from elimination in the D1 HJ event. The 'old automatic' height of 5' 04 almost proved to be the culprit in being eliminated from further competition. After two misses Demos cleared 5' 04 [above]. Then she cleared 5' 06 on her first try to win the Gold Medal in the D1 HJ.
Verona's Eva Greenwalt [below left] a junior finished third at 5' 05 while versatile Watertown athlete senior Lindsay Schwartz [below center and right] finished second [5' 05]. Schwartz had quite a weekend at La Crosse as she won both D1 hurdle races to go along with her second in the HJ.
