Badger Coach Jim Stintzi Announces Recruits For 2010-11

Wednesday, February 24, 2010. UW-Madison Womens Track And Field Team

Seniors Maya Vazquez from Arcadia, Angela Boushea from Monona Grove, and Laura McGinnis from Middleton have signed National Letters of Intent to participate in track and field for the University of Wisconsin's Women's Track and Field Team.




Maya Vazquez who is a multi sport athlete has helped lead Arcadia Coach Lynn Sonnentag's teams to D2 State Championsips in 2008 and 2009. Vazquez excels in the jumps and dash events. Go to the Badger article.

State Meet results for Maya Vazquez:

9th: 1st LJ, 2nd 200m, 2nd TJ.

10th: 1st 400m, 1st LJ, 2nd 200m, and 3rd 100m.

11th: 1st 100m, 1st 200m, 2nd 400m, and 1st LJ.



Angela Boushea is a multi-sport athlete at MG and is the defending D1 SP Champion. The Monona Grove Silver Eagle has been a State Meet D1 participant for Coach Brian Storms and MG since ninth grade. Go to the Badger article.

2007: 4th SP

2008: 3rd discus, 4th SP

2009: 1st SP, 4th discus.





Middleton Cardinal Laura McGinnis is also a multi-sport athlete who competes for the D1 Cardinal track and field team coached by Tara Franklin. McGinnis is an important member of the Middleton relay teams but emerged as a serious contender in the jump events during her junior season.

At the 2009 State Meet she placed 7th in the TJ. Her improvement in that event has continued with outstanding performances in summer USA TF events.

At the AAU Northern Indoor Championships held at Illinois Wesleyan University on February 21 McGinnis finished first in the TJ.
