Amy Feivor Breaks Lightning LJ Record

Appleton North Senior Amy Feivor set a school record in the long jump at the Fox Valley Association Conference Track and Field Meet held at Appleton North on Monday, May 18. Her jump of 17' 06.25 beat the old school record of 17' 05.00 that Feivor set in 2008.




Reedsville Relay Teams Set Conference Records


The Reedsville 4x1 and 4x2 relay teams set Olympian Conference Records on Monday, May 18 at the Olympian Conference Meet held at Valders. The 4x1 posted a 52.30 and the 4x2 a 1:49.37 to set new conference records.

The Reedsville 4x200 relay team runners were:
  • Jennifer Brochtrup (SR)
  • Michelle Mangin (JR)
  • Carlee White (JR)
  • Meg Heafy (FR)

The Panthers have broken the school record in 4x2 race 3 times this year. The old record of 1:51. 5 had stood since 1987. Reedsville's current best time is 1:49.37 run Monday night, May 18 at the Olympian Conference Meet. This was also a new Conference Record for the Olympian Conference.

The 4 x 100 relay team runners were:

  • Jennifer Brochtrup (SR)
  • Danielle Gilsdorf (SR)
  • Carlee White (JR)
  • Michelle Mangin (JR)

The 4x1 relay team has not broken the school record of 51.5 set in 1989, but did set a new Conference Record with a time of 52.30 last night.





Chidera Obasih

Sophomore Chidera Obasih [right] from D1 Brookfield Central smashed the 100m and 200m dash records at the Greater Metro Conference Meet held May 19 at Quad Park.

She broke the 100m record which she set last year by racing to a 11.98 clocking. Her time in the 200m was 24.02. Both performances lifted Obasih to the top of the Week 10 HR lists for those events.

Obasih is pictured on the right at the WIAA 2008 State Meet.

Becca Schmidt

Whitefish Bay senior Becca Schmidt who is pictured on the left at the 2008 WIAA State Meet broke two school and meet records in the 100m and 200m dash events which she set set earlier in the 2009 season. At the North Shore Conference Meet held Tuesday, May 19 at Cedarburg she posted a 12.01 and a 24.93 to 'reset' the dash records whch she set in earlier meets.





Breanna Strupp

Slinger senior Breanna Strupp set the conference discus record with a throw of 138' 04 at the Wisconsin Little Ten Conference Meet at Hartford on Tuesday, May 19.


Krissy Day

Wisconsin Lutheran senior Krissy Day jumped 18' 02.00 to set the conference record in the long jump at the Wisconsin Little Ten Conference Meet at Hartford on Tuesday, May 19.




Stratford Athletes Set Conference Records


Senior Kelsey Temanson [left] from Strartford tied the Marawood Conference Record in the pole vault by vaulting 10' 00 at the Marawood South Conference Meet held at Pittsville on Tuesday, May 19. The record is held by Hannah Pospyhalla [Edgar, 2008] and Temanson [2008].


Senior teammate Janice Reeves set the Conference LJ record by jumping 17' 01.00. This broke the record of 17' 00.75 set in 1987 by Tricia Wellsandt from Abbotsford.




Warrior's Shelia Opelt Makes Final Conference Meet A Night To Remember

Senior Shelia Opelt [left] from D2 Neillsville made her last appearance at the Eastern Cloverbelt Conference Meet a memorable experience. Opelt moved to the top of the HR lists for Week 10 by setting a school and conference record in a field event and by excelling in both hurdle events. Opelt a State Meet veteran in the LH, HH, HJ, and LJ events competed in those events at the Cloverbelt Meet.

She set a Conference and school record [breaking her record from 2008] in the LJ [18' 05.25] and won both hurdle races in 16.05 and 46.50. In her other field event the HJ she recorded a height of 5' 00 to win that event.

Opelt completed in four events and came away with four first places as Neillsville won the Conference Meet for the first time since 1978. Also the 196 points that Neillsville scored was a conference record for points scored.

At the 2008 WIAA State Meet Shelia Opelt [below center] was 3rd in the D2 LH, 5th in the HH, 3rd in the LJ and qualified for the HJ event. Opelt is pictured [below right] at the Cloverbelt Meet.




Bradley Tech Athletes Set Three Milwaukee City Records


The Bradley Tech 4x2 relay team [above] set the Milwaukee City Record for the 4x2 by posting a 1:39.38 at the Milwaukke Public Schools Meet held Wednesday, May 20 at Wisconsin Lutheran College. Relay runners were L-R: Jasmyn Hudgins, Symona Gregory, Sharonda York, and Dezerea Bryant. The team is pictured [above] at the 2008 WIAA State Meet where they set the State Record in the 4x2 [1:38.46].

Hurdler Sharonda York [left-2009 W/TFA Meet] set a Milwaukee City record in the HH with a time of 15.46.

The Bradley Tech 4x1 relay team consisting of Angelina Howard, Symona Gregory, Derricka Wesley, and Jasymyn Hudgins set a Milwaukee City Record with their time of 47.93.



Tasha Allen Rewrites Milwaukee City Dash Record Book

Tasha Allen broke the three dash records at the Milwaukee Public Schools City Meet held at Wisconsin Lutheran College on Wednesday, May 24.

The General's Shalesa Smith Sets Milwaukee City LJ Record

Shalesa Smith from Milwaukee Rufus King who is the current TJ leader on the HR List set a Milwaukee City Record in the LJ at the Milwaukee Public Schools Meet held at Wisconsin Lutheran College on Wednesday, May 20.

Her jump of 19' 02.25 set a new record. She also won the TJ [38' 00.75]. Smith is pictured at the WIAA 2008 State Meet [left] and below at the 2009 W/TFA Meet.




Highlander's Marissa Savitch Sets North Shore Conference Record


Sophomore Marissa Savitch from Homestead High School set a school and conference record in the HH [14.55] at the North Shore Conference Meet held on Tuesday, May 19 at Cedarburg High School.

Savitch is pictured as a ninth grader in the HH preliminaries at the 2008 WIAA State Meet [above and left] and in the Lois Wolf Meet [right] held indoors at Whitefish Bay HS earlier this season.



Edgar Sets Records At The Marawood South Conference Meet


The Edgar 4x1 set a conference record by breaking the record they set in 2008. Their 52.05 clocking beat thier old record of 52.11. Teammembers were: Jena Heidmann 09, Kelsey Steinke 09, Danielle Boehm 12, and Karissa Andreshak 09.

Also, Karissa Andreshak jumped 17' 01.00 in the LJ to share the Conference LJ Record with Janice Reeves of Stratford.

Edgar ninth grader Tessa Thurs set the Conference Record in the 300m hurdles by posting 46.22. This time beat the old record of 47.41 set in 2007 by Stacy Holmberg of Wausau Newman. Previous Edgar feature.




Eau Claire Regis Jumper Sets School Record


Kayla Simon a sophomore at Eau Claire Regis jumped 16' 07.75 to set a school record. The jum,p wa smade on Tuesday, May 19 at the Western Cloverbelt Conference Meet held in Chippewa Falls.




Brookfield East 4x8 Sets GMC Record

Kathleen Brown, Katie Tolan, Natalie Dillon, and Taylor Conway set a Greater Metro Conference record in the 4x8 at the Quad Park site by recording a 9:52.22.




Craker Continues Her Record Breaking Spree

Senior Lacy Craker of Baraboo went on another record breaking spree when she threw the shot and discus 41' 01.50 and 134' 01 to set Northern Badger Meet Records on Tuesday, May 19.




Carli Kronstedt Sets Marawood 1600m Record


Pittsville junior Carli Kronstedt broke a former Pittsville runner Laura Palmer's 1600m Conference Record by recording a 5:17.27 at the Marawood South Meet at Pittsville. The old record was 5:19.25.




Cubans Set 4x2 Record At SWAL


The Cuba City 4x2 consisting of Katelyn Kieler, Alix Kaster, Emily Kaiser, and Katie Langmeier broke the 4x2 record of 1:51.31 set in 1991 by Darlington by racing to a time of 1:50.74. This set a new Southwest Wisconsin Activites League Conference Record.




Ninth Grader Claire Gordee Sets GMC Record In 400m

By recording a 58.46 at the Greater Metro Conference Meet held Tuesday, May 19, ninth grader Claire Gordee from Wauwatosa East set a new 400m Conference Record.




Hamilton Chargers Set Greater Metro Conference 4x2 Record


Hamilton High School from Sussex recorded a 1:45.33 at Quad Park to set a new Greater Metro Conference record in the 4x2. This broke the old record of 1:46.85 set in 2008 by Menomonee Falls. The Charger 4x2 relay runners were:

  • Brooke Patterson
  • Danielle Barbian

Hamilton's 4x1 relay team missed tying their own record by .01 seconds. That record was set in 2008.

Raiders Junior Continues To Improve


In the Norse Invitational hosted by D3 Whitehall High School D2 sprinter Maya Vazquez set a school record in the 200m dash. Pushed by sophomore Bria Halama [25.51] from D3 Independence - Gilmanton and senior Chelsey Simon [26.06] from D3 Whitehall Vazquez set an Arcadia school record by recording a 24.98 in the 200m dash. Simon was the D3 100m and 200m State Champion in 2008.

As a ninth grader Vazquez had a 'PR' of 25.48. Last season her 'PR' of 25.06 was set in the D2 200m final. In the photographs above Vazquez is shown at the 2007 [above left] and 2008 [above right] WIAA State Meets.



Abby Lueck Sets Columbus School Record In The SP

Senior Abby Lueck from D2 Columbus High School set the Columbus school record in the shot put at the Lakeside Lutheran Triple Dual on May 12 [Week 9].



The University of Wisconsin Track recruit had a throw of 41' 10.00 to set the record.



Last season Lueck placed 4th in the SP at the WIAA State Meet.



Angela Tipp Sets Raider School Record In The 200m Dash


Hudson sophomore Angela Tipp set the Hudson school record for the 200m dash when she recorded a 25.97 in the preliminaries of the 200m event at the Big Rivers Conference Meet held at Hudson High school on Tuesday, May 19. Angela Tipp won the Big Rivers 2009 200m Dash title while her sister Erika who is also a sophomore finished third. Both sisters were part of the winning Hudson 4x1 and helped the Raiders 4x2 to a second place finish.




High Jump Dual At 'BDN' Classic Results In Two School Records

During Week 8 two high jump athletes were locked in a dual that led to two school records. Emily Bucanan [L] a senior from Clinton High School and sophomore Anna Soyck [R] from Orfordville Parkview competed at the Beloit Daily News Classic Meet held at Beloit Turner High School on May 8.

The two D2 athletes each jumped 5' 05 with Buchanan winning the jump-off. Buchanan broke the Clinton school record in the HJ by 1 inch while Soyck also set an Orfordville Parkview school record.
