Milwaukee Bradley Tech Sets Six Meet Records At Waukesha North | Oshkosh North | Notable Performances



Sophomore Sarah McMahon of D3 Colfax ran two outstanding races in the 800m and 1600m events at the Chetek Invitational on Tuesday, April 28. She set Meet Records in both events.

In the 1600m run McMahon posted a record setting 5:14.54. Later in the meet she came back to run the 800m in another record time of 2:24.19. Before she got on the bus for the 28 mile trip home she was a member of the fourth place Colfax 4x4 relay team.

At the 2008 WIAA State Meet McMahon [L] placed 10th in the 3200m and 8th in the 1600m races.

Other records set at Chetek were:

  • Eau Claire North's 4x2 relay team [1:51.30] consisting of Kimberly Brunetto, Melissa Nicolai, Whitney Rawdon, and Ashley Sveum.

  • Sophomore Crystal Oravis from D3 Drummond ran on the second place Lumberjacks 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams, as well as setting records in the 300m LH [49.09] and high jump [5' 02].

  • Senior Christina Swangim [below in the PV] from host school D2 Chetek also had a busy night. Swangim finished second in the 100m , was on the first place Chetek 4x100 relay team [54.05], vaulted 8' 00 to take first in the PV event, and set a Meet Record in the long jump with a distance of 16' 10.25. At Chetek on April 30 she LJ'ed 17' 06.25.

Sauk Prairie senior Chantel McConville set the old Sauk Prairie PV record of 11' 00 in 2008. Sauk prairie is a D1 school.


At the Reedsburg Dual on Tuesday, April 28, she broke her old record by vaulting 11' 01. McConville is pictured at the Nelson-Daniels Classic Indoor Meet held in March at UW-Whitewater.

It was quite a week for Chantel McConville. On Friday night, May 1, at the Baraboo Relays she vaulted 11' 07. This breaks her own school record she set earlier this week of 11' 01" and it breaks the Baraboo Relay meet record of 11' 06" set by Jenny Soceka of Madison Memorial in 2004. Soceka went on to be the D1 2005 PV Champion.

Eau Claire Regis senior Mary Theisen had a throw of 45' 06.00 at the Schultz Invite held at Arcadia on Friday, May 1. This set a new meet record. Theisen is a State Meet D3 veteran. In 2006 and 2007 she competed for Fall Creek.

Two meet records were set at the Ginger Morrey Invitational held at Riverdale High School on Saturday, May 2. Riley O'Connell [above left] from D3 Ithaca set a new TJ record with a distance of 33' 10.00. This broke Ashley Pershings [Hillsboro] record of 33' 00.75 which was set in 2006.

The Ginger Morrey high jump record of 5' 02 was set in 1999 by Jenny Procaska [Riverdale] and matched in 2002 by Kiah Sagami of Wisconsin Heights. The new record of 5' 04 was set when Megan Marfilius [above right] a senior from the D3 Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets jumped 5' 04. The jump is also a school record breaking the old school record of 5' 02 that Megan set in 2008. Marfilius finished 4th in the D3 HJ event at La Cosse in 2008.






Get Out The Erasure! Tech Sets Six Records


The Milwaukee Bradley Tech Trojans rewrote the Waukesha North Aurora Health Care Invitational record book on Saturday, May 2. Mixing newcomers with veterans proved to be a successful mix for coach Ken Williams team. Records set were:

Lacy Craker [L] is a senior from Baraboo who set a new record in the discus at the Baraboo relays on Friday, May 1. Her record distance was 135' 10. Craker is pictured above at the 2009 W/TFA Meet held at UW-Whitewater. At the 2008 State Meet Craker was second in the D1 discus [137' 05] and 5th in the SP [40' 08].



Notable Performances


The 400m featured two outstanding times on Saturday, May 2. Tahje Whittley [above left at 2008 WIAA State Meet] is a Milwaukee Bradley Tech athlete who ran a 58.45 at the Aurora Health Care Invitational at Waukesha North. This time set a meet record. Whittley is a versatile sophomore who continues to improve. As a ninth grader she placed 6th in the D1 400m [58.60].





Cathryn Helmers is a senior from Holmen. On Saturday, May 2, at the Mississippi Valley and Big Rivers Conference Challenge Helmers ran a 58.56 400m which was a 'PR' and moved her up to position #4 on the HR Week 7 400m list. Helmers qualified for the 2008 State Meet [above right] in the 400m dash.





She is pictured [submitted photo - left] as a ninth grader at the 2006 State Meet running on Holmen's fourth place 4x4 relay team. Joanna Schultz was a Holmen senior in 2006 and anchored that team.


Allen Rewrites Spartan Hurdle Record Book


Danielle Allen from Oshkosh North is pictured above in the 100 HH event in which she set a school record. Her time of 15.6 at the Oshkosh North Spartan Invitational broke the old school record of 16.0.

Senior Danielle Allen broke both Oshkosh North school hurdle records at North's Spartan Invitational on Thursday, April 30.




She was timed in 15.6 [HHT] in the 100m HH event before blazing to an Honor Roll time of 46.6 [HHT] in the 300m LH's. This broke the old school record of 47.46.




Allen qualified for the D1 300m LH and triple jump at the 2008 State Meet. She is shown in competition at the 2009 UW-Oshkosh Large School Invitational.
