Rufus King Long Jump Relay Team Breaks 33 Year Old Record


Milwaukee King senior Shalesa Smith is a seasoned State Meet athlete in the jumps. At the Milwaukee Public Schools Conference Relay Meet held Tuesday, May 5 at Wisconsin Lutheran College Smith led the King horizontal jump relay teams to two first place finishes. Smith is pictured above left [W/TFA 2009 meet, 1st in TJ, 38' 00.25] and above right [UW-Whitewater 2009 Large Schools Meet ]. At the 2008 WIAA State Meet Smith qualified for the LJ and TJ in D1 and placed third in the D1 TJ finals [below right]. Smith is pictured in the LJ [below left] at the 2008 Southside Indoor Meet.


At the MPS Conference Relays Shalesa Smith jumped 17' 11 and 38' 09 to lead the King Generals to two first place finishes in the LJ and TJ. The King Generals broke a 33 year old Milwaukee City Relays record by totaling 50' 01.50 in the LJ. The old record was set in 1976 by Milwaukee Custer [49' 00.75]. The General's total in the TJ was 104' 09.00. Those two distances placed the King team in the first position on the Honor Roll's 'Odd Relays' list.

King long jump record team members were : Shalesa Smith, Alexandra Skeeter, and Kayla Johnson.

The King triple jump relay team consisted of: Shalesa Smith, Daphne Cain, and Ijeoma Anyanwu.

Chantel McConville Sets Sauk Prairie School Record In Pole Vault


Sauk Prairie senior Chantel McConville is pictured above breaking the Eagles school pole vault record by soaring 11' 09 on Tuesday, May 5, in a home dual meet against Waunakee. Her 11' 09 vault broke her 'old' school record of 11' 07 which she set on Friday, May 1, at the Baraboo Relays. She also set a Meet Record at Baraboo.

Lightning Long Jumper Sets Meet Record At Jaguar Invitational

Amy Feivor a senior at Appleton North High School long jumped 17' 02.25 to set a Meet Record at the Jaguar Invitational held at Ashwaubenon High School on Thursday, May 7.

Lumberjills Nicole Flackey Resets Discus School Record


Senior Nicole Flackey from Ladysmith had a discus throw of 126' 05 on Thursday, May 7, at the Gilman Pentagular.


This broke the school record of 119' 11 she had previously set at the Mike Breed Invitational on April 17 of this year.


At the 2008 State Meet Flackey placed third in the D2 SP event.




Ashland Senior Ties School High Jump Record

Lindsay Wiebe [below right] a senior at D2 Ashland had an outstanding night at the Park Falls Invite on Monday night, May 4. Wiebe ran on the winning Oredockers 4x1 relay team and then went to work in the field events. She won the long jump, triple jump and high jump. In the high jump she tied a school record by jumping 5' 05.

Oriole Thrower Sets School Record In the Shot Put

Sophomore Lyndsey Thorpe [below] from Stanley-Boyd had a throw of 41' 08.00 in the shot put event to set a new Stanley-Boyd school record. Brooke Wozniak had the old record of 40' 08.00 which she set in 1999. The throw was made during Week 6 on April 24th at the Augusta Invite. As a ninth grader Thorpe was a qualifier at the State Meet in the shot put event.
